The “It’s Been a Long Time” Cliche

Got a new job a couple of months ago, and I ran the Jungle Run 10K in Los Gatos today. The job has kept me really busy, and when I haven’t been busy I’ve been wanting to do anything but play with computers, even to write here. The race this morning was great, except I have not been getting much sleep, and I could tell.

I have not written much about work here in the past, and I am not going to start now. I am not going back on that when I say the last two months have been exhausting. You go from doing other things, to meaning to do other things, to wanting to do other things. It is exciting. That is not always enough.

In this post I wrote about the way that people were moving away from here like it was some kind of coal mining town. I still don’t think it is, but my new job is literally around the corner from the factory where my dad worked for most of his career. I go by there on the way to lunch or whatever and remember picking dad up for camping trips, and see new buildings where there were other buildings, and buildings where there were no buildings at all. It’s not nostalgia. It’s different from that.

Yosemite in a couple of weeks. The plans are fairly fluid. The summer is going by fast. I’m going to be another year older in eight weeks. It’s August in two weeks. Too fast.

Finally a new theme here. It’s not as cool as I wanted it to be, but it’s not finished either. Some actual writing, in the meantime. That’s supposed to be the point. Still, last weekend, Sunday afternoon, crawling around in CSS.
